Comparison of the Activities of the Parties with the Ideological Provisions in their Party Programs

ABOUT THE RESEARCH

The research was carried out in 2020 at the initiative of the Political Dialogue NGO with the financial support of the National Endowment for Democracy. The purpose of this study is to find out to what extent the activities of active political parties correspond with the ideological provisions available in their party programs. Thus, it compares the activities of the Armenian political parties with the ideological provisions in their party programs. In order to achieve the above-mentioned goal, the parliamentary parties were researched by looking at their votes in the parliament and their positions on several issues of public concern. Secondly, the parties outside the Parliament were researched through their official statements.

The study of the parties’ public activities (in the case of the parliamentarians, the voting on the bills, and in the case of the extra-parliamentarians, the announcements) showed that they are dominated by the component that does not require ideological orientation.
